July 3 and 4, 2010
We got to visit with Mary, Phil, Jake and all their friends today. We hung out at camp and ate and drank beer. They had some great homebrew on tap. They fixed moose steaks, fillet mignon shish-kabobs, shrimp shish-kabobs, brownies, smores, hot dogs, and burgers. They did a little fishing and Jim went to watch. We had pancakes for breakfast the next morning. Mary Sue and I walked her dogs to Copper Center and to see the Copper River. Later Jim and I went to get gas and back to the National Park Visitor's Center to hear another Ranger talk and watch their movie, "Crown of the Continent". Wrangell-St. Elais National Park had 9 of the 16 highest peaks in North America. It is as big as Switzerland, with mountains taller than the Alps. We had chicken BBQ, beans and macaroni salad. They also made fajitas, and had watermelon. The kids had sparklers. We have had a great fire going all day long each day. (We got to see a bald eagle at the river.)
