We left Squamish and reached the United States border at 11:34 a.m. It took us 1 hour and 19 minutes to get through the line. We made a stop in Bellingham at a Borders bookstore to get a book for this area on camping. We made it to Anacortes, Washington, and got a campsite in the city park. This campground is in a dense forest right on Puget Sound. We drove into town and had a beer at Anacortes Brew Pub. This is a neat little town -- they have murals on all the historic buildings depicting their history. On the way back to camp we stopped at the ferry terminal to get the schedule to San Juan Island, Friday Harbor. We also stopped by the red box and rented "Cop Out".
